I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I thought it was just a travelogue, but it was much more than that. The author, Wakabayashi, uses his journey ...続きを読むto explore the conflict and frustration he feels between himself and the world around him. He does this with a delicate sensibility and a pure heart. The book was especially moving when he wrote about his late father. This brought the book full circle for me and made me appreciate Wakabayashi even more. I have always liked him, but now I like him even more. The fact that this book is so appealing is a testament to Wakabayashi's own appeal. It was a pleasure to get a glimpse into his raw, vibrant life.
