There is a fairy tale called "The Emperor’s New Clothes," and Suzumi Suzuki is just like that little boy—especially when she talks about the swirling world of nighttime desires, she boldly declares, “The emperor has no clothes!”
Even in this work, her sharpness in mercilessly stripping away the hypocrisy and deceit surrounding men and women involved in affairs remains undiminished, as does her gentle gaze at the underlying weakness and sadness of human nature.
“I sincerely hope that fresh air will reach those who feel suffocated by unreasonable systems like marriage, and it is no lie that I also truly wish for the pain of those suffering from infidelity to be eased.”
P.S.
Once, when I attended a public talk between Suzumi-san and Usagi Nakamura at the Shogakukan headquarters, I even got a photo with her—haha.
